As you can see, your trip to the Basque Country will be full and unforgettable…
The beaches of Cenitz, Mayarco and Lafitenia 300 m from the campsite: perfect if you’re looking for authentic, pristine nature.
These beaches have something to offer at any time of day. At high tide, you can swim, relax and sunbathe, and when the tide goes out, both young and old will enjoy fishing for little crustaceans by hand on the shore (shrimp and crabs). Fishing by hand isn’t only in Brittany! These beaches are monitored from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM in July and August.
The Basque Coast also has around15 other beaches. Some of the most beautiful beaches are Saint-Jean-de-Luz and Hendaye. Your children can swim there safely, play in the sand, and enjoy games with the kids clubs.
The Basque Coast means surfing. The birthplace of surfing in Europe , the Basque Coast’s spots have attracted the best surfers in the world since the 60s. From Anglet to Hendaye, you will always find a spot for your level and the weather. From our campsite, you can access many surfing spots, and we can advise you on the spots best adapted to your needs, so go ahead and learn to surf during your holiday, and take your children too.
As you can see, there are endless possibilities for hiking in this region. Between the first peaks of the Pyrenees and ocean, beginner or seasoned hikers will adore the variety of landscapes and gorgeous views. There is remarkable plant and animal life.
Our favorites: the coastal trail, which you will love. This trail passes right in front of the campsite and is relatively easy to hike, so you can bring the whole family. You can explore it piece by piece between Biarritz and San Sebastián. With unobstructed views of the ocean and cliffs, the trail alternates between beaches, coves and paths. Make sure you enter Saint-Jean-de-Luz by way of the Sainte Barbe point that dominates the whole bay for a magical view.
You can climb the Rhune, the highest mountain in Basque Country that reaches 905 m and offers a 360° panorama of the whole French and Spanish Basque Country, something the seasoned hiker should not miss! You can start out from the foot at Ascain, Olhette or Sare, or you can take the authentic little tourist train if you prefer. When you hike the mountain, you can visit the village of Sare, ranked as one of the most beautiful villages in France.
The Jaizkibel is a nice walk on the Spanish side. You can follow the meandering coast overlooking the ocean. Not a single house in sight, nothing but the bushy forest, the flowery moor, meadows, rocks, waves, blue, green and wild gray! On the way back, stop in the pretty village of Hondarribia to eat some pintxos in the best tapas bars in the region.
In the gorges of Kakuetta, you can take a unique hike in a tropical atmosphere. You follow a 2 km canyon through lush vegetation, dizzying cliffs, trails and walkways to finally get to a majestic waterfall, a great reward for the hike.
We have books and maps of the various hikes for all levels available at reception.
If after a busy start to your holiday… beaches, sun loungers, pool, naps, you want to move a bit, you can enjoy many activities all around the campsite. Here are a few suggestions:
